About Kōtuku Funerals
Kōtuku Funerals was founded on the belief that kindness and integrity are everything. ‘Kōtuku’ is the native white heron of New Zealand only found in the lower West Coast of the South Island.
This sacred bird is known in Māori mythology to accompany the Wairau, or spirit of the deceased from the earth back to the stars. A soul companion as we transition from Aotearoa back to our ancestral home, wherever that may be.
Kōtuku represents everything rare and beautiful while comforting us on our soul journey.
Care, kindness, and understanding are three principles taken that allow us to provide comfort, assurance, and professionalism when you experience the death of a loved one.
Recognising death in modern culture is changing, Kōtuku Funerals walk alongside, together crafting meaningful moments to remember, cherish and celebrate our deceased.
When life comes to an end, it is the Kōtuku that carries us to rest.
